The new look programming at TAC
So what’s it all about? In a nutshell we have taken a long hard look at both the class structure and the programming we are delivering and whilst we believe it’s a great offering, we also think that with a few tweaks we can make it even better.
Let’s start with the CrossFit and Olympic Lifting programmes, two training modalities that can exist side by side like fish and chips. To kick things off we have combined these programmes to some extent, using the Olympic lifting structure to the benefit of our entire CrossFit community. Tuesdays and Thursdays will therefore become Olympic Lifting days, with classes coming together to experience 45minutes of Olympic Lifting wisdom before splitting for the final quarter. From here the CrossFitters will move into their WOD and the Oly lifters will complete their accessory work. On the new timetable this will fall under the TAC CrossFit classes. We have combined the programming knowledge of 3 of TACs best in Kamil, Theo and Zak to bring you a CrossFit offering we believe will rival that of any facility in the world.
The CrossFit programme for the week will look like this;
Monday; Gymnastics technique (4 week focus each movement)
Tuesday; Olympic Lifting – Snatch
Wednesday; Active Recovery, Accessory work and Team WODs
Thursday; Olympic Lifting – Clean and Jerk
Friday; Single Leg Strength work
*There will be a WOD every day don’t worry
So where are the squats and Deadlifts I hear you ask…… Through our Olympic Lifting programming most members will get enough exposure to pulling and squatting movements, however if individuals need to work a bit more on these elements then they can do so in either the accessory sections of our programming or by supplementing some Strength Classes.
Strength Classes are also getting a revamp, firstly the name will be changed to TAC Strong, these classes will be driven toward improving both the strength and athletic development of our members.
The TAC Strong week will look like this;
Monday; Deadlift + accessories
Wednesday; Squat + accessories
Friday; Pressing + accessories
Saturday; Odd object/Strongperson
Fundamentals is the key to feeding our classes, taking new members with slightly less training experience on a journey that will see them complete CrossFit and TAC Strong classes safely. It’s important for us to gradually increase the volume and demands on those taking place in this class and to teach the techniques required to perform these movements without causing injury. We have a lot to teach so the structure needs to follow a strict process.
The TAC Fundamentals week will look like this;
Monday – CrossFit Gymnastics + WOD
Tuesday – Squat Strength + WOD
Wednesday – Olympic Lifting + WOD
Thursday – Deadlift /Press + WOD
Friday – Recovery
Saturday – Team WODs
That leaves our Conditioning classes which will continue to do what they do and improve the metabolic conditioning levels of our members through low skill high intensity sessions. TAC METCON will remain largely the same and will remain the come and get it done class on the TAC timetable.
TAC Mobility will remain as it has for the past few weeks and we will continue to email members at the start of each month with the class timetable.
We hope that these changes will improve your experience at TAC and rest assured that if we feel the changes do not achieve the desired effect then we will have no hesitation in restoring the current system, your experience at TAC is our primary concern so enjoy the changes and the results that come with them.
